Spinach Seeds (Longstanding Bloomsdale)
'Longstanding Bloomsdale' spinach seeds offer an exceptional variety of spinach valued for its delicate flavor and long harvest period. This variety is known for its heat and bolting tolerance, making it an ideal choice for warmer climates.
Growing spinach from seed is relatively simple. Seeds can be sown directly in the ground after the last frost, or started indoors a few weeks before transplanting outdoors. Spinach plants prefer soil rich in organic matter and well drained, as well as a sunny to partial shade exposure.
Once established, 'Longstanding Bloomsdale' spinach plants require regular watering to keep the soil moist. Weeds should be removed regularly to avoid competition with growing spinach plants. Mulch can also be applied around plants to help retain soil moisture and reduce weeds.
'Longstanding Bloomsdale' spinach leaves are ready to harvest approximately 45 to 50 days after sowing. Leaves can be picked as needed, allowing plants to continue producing new leaves throughout the growing season. The leaves can be eaten raw or cooked, and are delicious added to salads, stir-fries or cooked dishes.
Besides being delicious, 'Longstanding Bloomsdale' spinach leaves are also rich in nutrients. They are an excellent source of vitamins A and K, as well as iron, calcium and dietary fiber, making them a healthy and nutritious choice for any balanced diet.
